iRocker All Around 11 Inflatable Paddleboard – Test and Review

The iRocker All Around 11 is one of the most versatile all purpose paddle boards available today. It can carry a ton of gear with lots of mounts and D-Rings for accessories. It has a huge weight capacity for larger paddlers. It’s fun to paddle. We got a chance to try out the iRocker All Around 11′ and liked it’s heavy duty 3L construction, carbon paddle, and on water performance. Keep reading to get all the details on the iRocker All Around 11 in this SUP review.

Features of the iRocker All Around 11 paddle board

The iRocker All Around is kind of the Swiss Army Knife of the iRocker iSUP line. It does almost everything well and is useful for almost any activity. The 11′ All Around SUP has a weight capacity of up to 435 lbs making it one of the best choices for larger paddlers. iRocker provided us with an 11′ All Around to try out. It is one of the best all purpose, carries lots of weight, has tons of mounts, paddles fast boards out there. As with all our reviews, we’ll give you all the good and bad about it.

The All Around has a shape that is not as short and fat as the iRocker Cruiser but not as long and slender as the iRocker Sport. The All Around has a longer grooved pattern deck pad that extends more rearward on the board than the sport. It doesn’t have the raised heel pad for doing kick turn that the Sport model has.

Basic Specs

The iRocker All Around 11′ is 11′ foot long by 32″ wide and 6″ thick with an all around board shape. It has a weight capacity of 435 lbs. The board itself weighs 26 lbs. The backpack weighs 36 lbs when it’s full with the bag, pump, and accessories.

Price

The iRocker All Around 11′ runs $649.99 on their website. There is usually a $25 off coupon for first time customers that pops up dropping the price to $624.99. It is also available on Amazon for those who like shopping there.

Construction

iRocker boards use 3 layer PVC construction. This produces a very stiff and durable board. The board looks high quality and there are no signs of sloppy manufacturing anywhere on it. The deckpad is smooth and has no edges peeling up. The materials look and feel like a high end paddleboard.

Board Stiffness

One of the ways to measure how well an inflatable board is made and how well it will perform is how stiff it is. To measure this we set the board up on 2 stands 8 feet apart. We loaded the board up with 120 lbs of weight and measured how much the board deflected under load.

The iRocker All Around 11 deflected 1.3 inches in our test. This is excellent and on par with the best boards we have measured including a board from Red Paddle Co with their RSS stiffening battens which deflected 1.2 inches. For reference cheap Amazon $200-$300 boards deflect 3 inches or more. iRocker is doing things right with the construction of their boards. The iRocker All Around is about as close to to solid board as you can get with an inflatable.

Deck Pad

The EVA foam deck pad has a grooved pattern that extends from the front bungee cord all the way to the rear bungee cord. The pattern changes to an embossed logo pattern under the rear bungee back to the rear of the board. The deck pad is large enough to easily do SUP Yoga. Your dogs will have plenty of open deck pad to stand on also.

Handles, D-Rings, action mount, and bungee cords

This board has a ton of D-Rings and action mounts on it. More than any other board I’ve been around so far. It has 7 handles on it. A nose and tail handle, a set of grab handles at the front bungees and rear bungees, and a handle at the middle of the board.

There are 21 D-Rings. D-Rings for the front and rear bungees. A D-Ring at the nose on the top and bottom of the board. A set of D-Rings around the middle of the board you can use to attach a seat. A dedicated ankle leash D-Ring at the rear of the board.

There are 2 bungees. One at the front and one at the rear.

There are 4 action mounts. 2 at the front bungee D-Rings. 2 a little in front of the rear bungees. There are plenty to attach fishing rod holders, speakers, GoPro cameras, or anything else you can think of.

3 Removable fins

The board has a standard 3 fin arrangement. 2 small outboard fins. 1 large center fin. All 3 are removable using nylon flip locks. Some spare nylon flip locks are also included. You can add them to the repair kit for when one breaks or wears out.

SUP Accessories

This board comes with everything you need to hit the water. The package includes the board, roller backpack, carbon 3 piece paddle, ankle leash, repair kit, and triple action pump. All the accessories are high quality and better than what you find on cheap paddle boards.

Carbon Adjustable Paddle

This board comes with the best 3 piece paddle I’ve seen in an inflatable SUP package. The shaft is carbon. It uses a sliding pin clamp to adjust length similar to what windsurfing booms use. It feels light. It has good stiffness. It is on par with my carbon Aqua Bound Challenger paddle that I use for most of my paddleboarding.

I don’t see any reason to upgrade from this paddle to anything better. It is far better than the typical 3 piece aluminum paddle that almost every below $500 paddle board comes with. It’s a nice step up from a fiberglass paddle that many boards in the $600-$800 range come with.

Triple Action Hand Pump

A large dual chamber, triple action hand pump is included. It has a switch on the back for switching between modes as you inflate. You start in position 1 on the switch and pump until it gets too difficult. Rotate the switch to 2 and pump a litte more. Rotate to 3 when 2 gets too hard. Finish up on 3. Double chamber pumps let you pump the board up a little faster than single chamber dual action pumps.

It will save you 1 to 2 minutes of hand pumping but only if you leave it in mode 1 and 2 as long as possible. Mode 3 is the same as single action mode on a normal double action pump.

There is no deflate mode with this double chamber pump. This is similar to the Red Paddle Co Titan 2 double chamber pump that also can’t deflate.

I’m not sold on large double chamber pumps really being an improvement. Stronger people can save some time with them over a regular double action pump. They take up way more space in the backpack and add a significant amount of weight.

Carry bag

A roller backpack is included. It has a few unique features compared to the roller backpack other brands give you. The wheels and roller handle are on the opposite side of the bag from the backpack straps. This is a really good idea. It keeps the backpack straps from getting tangled under the bag while rolling it. It avoids having to come up with some other solution to hide the straps when rolling the bag.

It adds a little quirk also. When loading the board into the bag. The wheels fall onto the bag. You have to hold them up and slide the board under them. It’s not a big deal. It’s a little more awkward than a normal paddleboard backpack.

The backpack straps are big and thick with lots of padding. There is a nice amount of padding for your back on the bag as well. It’s as comfortable as a 36 lb bag can get to carry around like a backpack.

Inside the bag, there are a couple of straps, with buckles, for holding the board in place. There are not any features for holding the paddle parts in the bag. They just lay in the bottom of the bag.

There is a zipper compartment on the top of the bag that is sized to hold the iRocker electric pump. Most of the time when using this board, I use the electric pump and leave the big hand pump at home. This is a nice little feature having a place to store the electric pump built into the bag.

The bag has some other zipper compartments and mesh pockets. There is a large zipper pocket on the front as well as a bungee where can stuff your PFD.

The materials and zipper feel sturdy and high quality. It’s one of the nicer roller backpacks I have seen.

Ankle leash

A color matching 10′ coiled ankle leash is included. It’s got nice padding and is comfortable to use.

Repair kit

A small repair kit is included that has a wrench for tightening the air valve and also some patch materials.

Setup and Inflation

Setup takes 10 to 15 minutes from bag to the water. The process is straightforward and easy. Find a nice smooth spot free of debris and sharp objects to inflate the board. An iRocker Landing Mat is a great accessory that you can put down to protect the board.

Make sure the air valve is in the closed position before attaching the pump. The button in the valve should be out, not in. Nothing sucks worse than hand pumping and losing all the air when you take the hose off because the valve wasn’t shut.

Attach the air hose to the pump and board and turn the switch on the pump to position 1. Pump until it gets too difficult and then switch to position 2. Pump until it gets too difficult again and switch to position 3. Pump until you get to at least 15 psi on the pressure gauge.

There pressure gauge won’t budge until you get to above 7 psi in the board. At 7 psi you will have an inflatable paddle board that looks and feels fully inflated. It’s not. For most people, you won’t get to 7 psi until after you switch to position 3 on the pump. You will have been pumping for several minutes already.

It took me 9 minutes and 23 seconds to inflate this board by hand with the included hand pump. It is a big board and has a lot of volume. It’s going to take some work.

After inflating the board attach the fins. They use nylon flip locks. Open the flip lock. Insert the fin into the slot. Shove it as forward and in as you can. Flip the lock closed to lock it in place. On 3 fin setups, the small fins always seem to lock really easily. The large fin always seems to take some extra fussing. Don’t use it if the lock isn’t snapped shut. You will lose the fin while paddling.

Attach the ankle leash at the back of the board and you are set to go.

Using an electric pump

The worst part about every inflatable paddleboard is inflating it. The process can be exhausting even with the best hand pump. There is a better way and it’s using an electric pump. iRocker makes a great 12 volt electric pump and I highly recommend you combo it when buying your board. You will go back and buy it after you inflate the board by hand a few times.

Hook up the electric pump, and set the target pressure (15-18psi for this board). Hit the auto button. Sit back and do other stuff while waiting for it to inflate. The iRocker pump inflated the 11′ All Around in 8 minutes and 39 seconds without me or the pump breaking a sweat.

On water performance

The All Around 11′ is 32 inches wide giving it good stability. It carries the width forward and rearward on the board so it has a lot of volume and flotation. It tapers at the nose and tail enough to give it good handling in chop and it doesn’t have excessive drag. It is faster with better glide than the wider iRocker Cruiser. It is not as fast as the iRocker Sport or other longer board. It has better glide than most 10’6″ or shorter all around boards.

The nose has enough rocker to easily go over chop and small waves without digging in. The board behaves well in small waves and chop. It’s usable in flat water to small wave and choppy water condition

The board is easy enough to turn for beginners. The 3 fins are a proven design that give boards good tracking at slower speeds. You do need to get some water flow over them before they start to work. This would be a great board for a larger size beginner paddle boarder.

The board is big with a large deck pad. It has enough space and stability to be a good yoga board. It has enough accessory mounts to be good for activities like fishing where you need to bring a lot of gear and mount rod holders. You could load it up with gear for a camping adventure and not be too much slower than a touring board.

Heavy weight and paddlers

This board excels with a larger paddler. iRocker recommends that you are 5’8″ or taller to get the most from this board. It has a published weight capacity of 435 lbs. It is a better size all around board for a tall big guy than a 10′ or 10’6″ board.

My 330 lb 6’5″ friend gave it a try. It was the best board we have tested for his size so far. It has good stiffness and doesn’t bend much under his weight. The carbon paddle stands up to his paddling with less flex than a cheap aluminum paddle. If you are a bigger person and want a good paddleboard that works well with your weight and size, the iRocker All Around is worth considering.

If you wanted something even bigger and more stable, the Blackfin Model X and Blackfin Model XL are available to fill your needs. They are wider with an even stiffer board construction.

Kayak conversion

We also tried throwing a seat onto the iRocker All Around and using it as a kayak. iRocker sells a kayak conversion kit which is a basic seat and an extra paddle blade. This setup works decently well. They designed the paddle so that it is balanced and feels good. A drip ring to slide onto each blade would do wonders for making it a little more dry. The seat works and is easy to attach to the D-Rings.

Deflation and packing

To put this board away you do the reverse of the setup. Find a nice smooth spot to set the board down. Let it completely dry. If you don’t have time to let it dry out, unroll it at home and let it finish drying there. That will keep your board from getting moldy and unpleasant.

Remove the fins by pulling on the nylon flip lock tabs. Take off the ankle leash.

Deflate the board by pushing in the valve button and turning it to hold it open. I find it helps to lay down on the board to squeeze some air out.

If you have an electric pump, use it to fully deflate the board. It makes rolling it a lot easier.

Roll the board and squeeze the air out as you go. Once you have it fully rolled up, put the strap around it and squeeze it tight.

I find this one of the more difficult paddleboard and pump combinations I’ve used to get back into the bag. The board is big. The double chamber pump is big. It will fit and the zipper will shut. It takes some effort.

Put the paddle into the bottom of the bag laying flat. You can put the fins down there to.

Put the board into the bag and get it all the way into the bottom under the wheels. You can pull the front of the bag up around the rest of the board.

Set the pump on top of the board with the pump handle towards the top of the bag. Squeeze and push the bottom of the pump into the board while you get the zipper. I find it easier to zip one side all the way to the front of the bag first. Go back and zip the other side pulling the zipper to the front. Make sure you don’t have any of the webbing cinch straps tight on the sides of the bag. If they aren’t completely loose, you have no hope of getting the zipper shut.

We really like the iRocker electric pump. We use it and leave the big hand pump at home most of the time. This also makes loading it into the backpack a lot easier. There is a pocket in the bag for storing the electric pump.

The Verdict

The All Around is an excellent iRocker Paddle Board for doing just about anything for larger paddlers. It handles great on the water with good glide. It’s got a ton of D-Rings and Action mounts for attaching accessories. I recommend this for anyone looking for a really good all around inflatable paddleboard.
